Be Risk Takers

One of the points made by our pastor today was, “Take a risk!” I couldn’t agree more. I have learned the will of God is ALL about risk taking. The following is what God gave me after church today.

1. Abraham had to leave Ur to go to a land God would show him. 2. Rebekah had to leave her town to marry Isaac. 3. Jacob had to leave his birthplace to marry Rachel. 4. Noah had to enter the ark, 5. Esther had to wear the outfit chosen for her. 6. Caleb’s daughter had to ask for her inheritance. 7. Moses had to go to Pharaoh. 8. The Israelites had to leave Egypt. 9. Finally, Peter had to step out of the boat to walk on the water.

I could go on and on. You get my point. I am very much a risk taker and taught my children to do the same. Greatness never occurs from the safety zone. God’s will is not for the faint of heart. Take courage and go possess the land. Sometimes you have to just step out of the boat and start walking. Yes, there’s waves to ride. Some look like giant walls, but it’s ok. You must ride them. You can’t get on the shore and out of the water if you're not going to step out of the boat. A ship can come ashore, but every person must walk out.

I wonder how many God’s wills were missed due to fear, and apprehension? Many times, God does not give us the full picture. Often times God gives one direction at a time. “Do this, and do that.” Once you do what God told you, the second command is given. Step out of your boat this week. Be courageous. Be bold. Choose to be unstoppable.

One example the pastor gave was his call to America. He actually asked his spiritual father. That great and God fearing man gave him wrong advice. Thank God he did what God told him to do. You see, the best of the best still can make mistakes. The Christian walk is all about following God’s perfect will. It’s personal to you not anyone else. This is one of the largest churches in the area, with others he planted. Had he not done what God asked him, he would have missed a glorious and well lived life. He and his family are actually living and walking the blessed life. The life everyone dreams of living.

Many times, our closest and dearest of friends make mistakes in judgment. This is because God speaks to you about His will for you. Sometimes, God wants to teach you what He needs to teach you. Thank God he came without the blessing of his spiritual father. It wasn’t disrespectful behavior. Rather, “I will follow God’s path, purposes, and plans to reach my destiny.” This behavior is a game changer. This kind of obedience is what God will honor and bless. You are useless in the Master’s Hands if you’re not bendable.

When God shows you what to do, don’t wrestle with flesh and blood.

Immediately, go do what God instructed you to do. God often times doesn’t answer your next question until you honored and fulfilled his first command to you. First, go do what He said to do!

Risk takers pay close attention to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Once we immediately, do what we were instructed to do, then God will show us the next step to take. It’s this easy. Go do, then wait for next instruction.

Friends, be risk takers. Fearless and courageous. knowing the Lord your God will lead you and bless you beyond measure. It’s all about stepping out of the boat and don’t look at the waves. You can ride those waves because God is with you. It is He who will take you from point A to point B. Trust and obey.

Be confident and be risk takers. God will always bless that which He has ordained, and we are “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
