“In that day he will be your sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the LORD will be your treasure.” -Isaiah 33:6
I was drawn to this passage.
There’s so much richness in here. I feel like a sponge trying to soak it all in.
The word that stood out immediately, was the first word, “In.”
You see, this word is very significant in order to understand the rest. It means you have to do something. You must move towards something or someone and enclose yourself around them. You become enclosed and totally surrounded by that thing or person. Are you in awe of what God just said here? “In that day, HE...”
There are moments when I read something that brings me to tears of gratefulness. This is such a passage. My mind can’t conceive that the Awesome God would surround me and enclose me with His awesome presence. Does this thought not move you?
Now, the rest of the passage becomes very clear to me. The benefits of His surrounding, enclosure, and embracing are awesome. We, then, reap the gifts of salvation. We are saved to be His and saved from our own wrecks. He gives us wisdom to make good and godly choices. We are saved from foolish choices that lead to total destruction, and He gives us knowledge to know right from wrong, and He saves us from making decisions based on not knowing.
God wants to give you His best. He is there waiting for you to invite Him In to everything you do -school, work, parenting, marriage, friendships. Did you get that? He wants to be IN every aspect of your life. Is it crystal clear to you... in your EVERY decision, EVERY move, EVERY wish and hope and dream. EVERYTHING!
Then it ends with a Big Bang.
Second word to stand out, “Fear.”
This is not a bad kind of fear. It’s a reverent kind of fear. Like the fear you feel towards hurting your child, spouse, or friend. It’s a honor kind of fear. When you honor someone you don’t hurt them. You protect, respect, and cherish that person. The thought of hurting them hurts you. That kind of fear. When you love someone you treasure them.
How fitting God ends this passage with, “The fear of the Lord will be your treasure.” Look at that! God is worth far more then silver or gold, far more precious than any gem or jewel. He is the Creator of all things. He wants our love, devotion, and praise. He is worthy of it all.
“In that day.” What day exactly is that? It’s now, My Friends. He wants to overshadow you, under His wings of protection and love. He wants to surround you, enclose you, allow you to feel His love. I’m overwhelmed by His presence in my life just now. This verse spoke to me in such a powerful way. I pray you will think about this passage and this message He is giving you today.
What a God, what a promise, and what benefits we receive for going after His perfect will. Determine you will not want anything but Him and to be in the center of His will. You might lose everything you have, but the treasures you have in Him are worth more than all the riches of this world.
“In that day he will be your sure foundation.” You can rely, trust, and bank on this promise. He will never leave you nor forsake you. You shall have more than just earthly things. What He offers are eternal, and your life will be a showcase of His real treasures.
