"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." -James 5:16
Not to long ago, I was woken up at 2:40 AM, I received a phone call from one of my best friends. I picked up my cell, “Are you alright? What happened?” So glad to hear her say, “I’m perfectly fine. You need to get up and start praying for someone that isn’t alright. Please get up and pray.”
I hung up and began praying a simple prayer of deliverance for this person. A miracle that I believed God would bring about. I remembered 7 years ago, when my friend spent hours on end praying and helping me in my darkest of hour. I knew God was about to use her again to help another person during the darkest hour. I knew God would deliver, set free, and give this person a miracle that day.
This passage is so powerful. It is clear to understand. Those who abide with God are His righteous! He hears the prayers of those who serve Him with all their hearts. He answers their prayers.
Two important words today just leaped out of the page. They are, “Powerful and Effective!” This means our prayers are mighty before a God that is mighty to do more then what we expect, imagine, and dream. The result is a great pay off, indeed! I knew God was going to perform a huge miracle. I knew He was going to do it. As I was praying, I felt the Spirit say, “I woke you up to pray because I want you to be a part of this miracle. Watch My hand move when My people pray.”
I already knew God was performing one huge major miracle. For those who know me well, you know I never do well with little sleep. I need my rest. But that day I was rejoicing, excited, and overwhelmed by the goodness of our God.
At 5:30 AM, I received this text from my friend as I was waiting to hear, “BROKEN! Praise God...not today Satan...Satan, you lose!” I think I did a summersault on my bed. I was waiting breathlessly to hear God had performed a miracle. God didn’t need me to pray. He doesn’t need anyone’s help to help others. Thank God, or we would be in trouble if the blessings and miracles of others depended on our prayers only.
You see, it is all about God helping those who pray recognize they are taking part of a miracle God is about to deliver. It’s all about Him choosing to let us share in His glory of seeing the miracle. We didn’t do it. He did! But, the joy that is felt when our prayers are answered is exhilarating! It runs deep. It reminds us of the All-Powerful God who loves us and wants to shower His blessings on us. He is mighty to save, set free, deliver, promote, and heal our brokenness.
I’m was excited on that special day for being called from my deep sleeping and partaking in a beautiful miraculous healing for a total stranger. The best part of it all was God assuring me He was about to perform a great miracle in someone’s life.
Yes, our prayer holds power, it’s effective, it causes the unbelievable to become believable. It’s causes the impossible to become possible. It moves mountains, it’s splits seas, and rivers allowing the oppressed to cross on dry ground. It opens the eyes of the blind, and ears of the deaf. It’s raises people from their paralytic conditions. It heals broken hearts, and restores broken lives, and yes, it has raised people from the dead! The prayers of the righteous rise up to the throne room of God. His ears are attentive to their cry for help and mercy. He moves heaven and Earth to answer their prayers!
I was rejoicing for total victory in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! One person who was suffering was set free and healed. There was rejoicing in Heaven and here on Earth in thanksgiving for a miraculous healing, only God could do. Doctors couldn’t make it happen. Best interventions couldn’t make it happen, and no medicine could have healed the person. This was a total miracle, and I am in awe of God and the prayer of His people.
Yes, I’m strongly reminding you that there’s power, might, and a great result of expectancy in the prayer of the righteous. It’s 100% powerful and effective!
