Keep Moving Towards Your Destiny

I woke up very early this morning. After spending time in prayer, I began to think about destiny. I’ve shared many times how much I love the word "destiny" so much so, I named my daughter Ellianna Destinee.

God has given each one of us, upon birth, a destiny. I’m really big on fulfilling our destiny. However, sadly, not many people fulfill their God-given destiny.

The question that we might ask is, “Why do people not fulfill their God-given destinies?” Well, there are many reasons. I’m going to concentrate on a few, as I believe they are the most reasons why people end up aborting their destinies.

When we serve God, with all of our heart, soul, and mind, He makes His ways known unto us. In other words, He revels to us our destiny. He might give us a whole picture, a partial picture, or a slight glimpse of what He’s trying to accomplish in us. It’s a revelation of what He wants to do.

However, we have a huge part to play in it. We can accept or reject His plan. God forbid we should reject it.

At the revelation, we get all excited. “Wow, God, bring it on!” He brings it on, all right! He gives us one word, “Go!” We, then, must get to our destinies. When we have received the word, His word, we must now go get it. In the first few hours, we are busy telling the world what God has told us. Then we are on a quick mission or we think in that 30-minute show mentality as if we are a TV show and can get everything figured out in a short time. "Like what, you mean it takes longer God to bring about our destiny?"

My Friends, I’m sorry to tell you it never happens so quickly. We are not in a 30 minute show where everything gets done within minutes. There is a preparation time. There is a test of faith, trust, hope, determination, and my all time favorite (help me, God) perseverance.

When we receive the word from God, we are on a mountaintop experience, but then we gotta get down from the mountain and start our walk to get to our destiny. We must walk through the dreaded valley. From the mountain top we can see everything. “Oh how beautiful, hurry up, God, take me there. I’m ready, God. Get me off this mountain so I can get to my destiny.”

Then we're in the valley, and we come against resistance. Rain, snow, ice, thunderstorms, humid and hot days whatever. All these representing hardships. We start to become weary, and we start to lose faith. We begin to ask, “Maybe this not the way. Surely, God wouldn’t give me all these hardships?” Really? Have you read about Abraham, Ruth, Joseph, Esther, Daniel, and Jacob? Just to name a few.

In our journey to fulfill our God given destiny. By the way, notice how I said, “God-given destiny.” Not all destinies we think we are trying to get to is of God. Please, please, please, understand this truth. God makes Himself very clear. Look at the following passage.

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.” -Isaiah 46:10

God makes the declaration on the lives of His people. He knows beginning to end very clear cut. His will is going to stand, and He surely will do all that He pleases. He loves to love on His children. He delights with singing over his children, and He provides good and perfect gifts for His own. He announces to us His plans. His plans are worth fighting for.

In our journey, we are going to encounter all sorts of obstacles. I believe this is where the real men and women of God are made. You know the ones that stand out amongst the millions. Those who carry the battle scars and have overcome. They are those who have learned true humility, love, compassion, and gratitude.

As we move towards our God given destiny. We must understand we will have blockage. We must break through. We will have opposition. We must work through it. We will become weary. We must rest in Him. We will feel like fainting. We must stand strong. The worst of all, we will want to give up. We must never give up. This is where perseverance and determination is fought and won.

As we get ready to end this year, I am reminding us all we're one year closer to our destiny. Regardless, what we think, feel, or see, we live by faith, and we trust in the unfailing God. We stand stronger than before, marching on as a soldier fighting in a war. We don’t surrender, and we don’t give up. We must determine we will keep going and get to our destiny. I promise you it’s worth fighting for.

Have you ever seen the commercial on the making of a marine? Those people aren’t the giving up kind of individuals. They are marines, and they go in for the kill, knowing they have a destiny to fulfill, and are fearless.

Do you know your destiny? God showed it to you so you would know His plan. He never said it would be done in a minute, and He didn’t say it would be easy. You have been equipped from beginning of time to fulfill that which He proclaimed. The call is going forth this morning. Will YOU heed to the calling? You can’t give up now no matter how long it has taken. You must have faith, trust, hope, determination, and perseverance. Get up and tell those weary bones of yours that you're not finished. You're going to press on, push through, and have an undivided heart and mind to do what God told you to do.

We count the cost. Then we determine in our hearts that serving God will cost us everything. People will not understand, but it’s okay. We have no clue who aborted their own destinies. Therefore, we can’t listen to people. We must have our ears inclined to the voice of God only.

You want to know how you know if the destiny you're trying to get to is of God? It’s that deep down in your heart with strength that defies all human reasoning. It’s those whispers in the darkest times of your life that say, “Keep Going. I’m with you. I’ve got you by the hand. I’m not letting go. It’s going to be okay. Trust me!”

The will of God was never meant for the weak in spirit, mind, and soul. Have you taken notice of some of the most unbelievable stories you ever heard were from people who never gave up on what God told them in secret. Yes, “The secret of the Lord is with those who fear him, he makes his covenant known to them.” (Psalms 25:15). My ultimate favorite passage. It’s so simple to understand, and so reassuring to me.

Friends, please don’t give in and don’t give up. God is making you into that masterpiece of His grace to showcase His love, power, and might in the lives of people who will not give up their destinies. Don’t allow fear or peer pressure to detour you from a life of pure joy, filled with great purposes, and blissful destiny.

INSIGHT: All of us are on a journey to reach the destination God has

in store for us, a place He wants us to be. However, we have to want God's will for our lives more than our comfort because the journey to the destination He has for us won't be comfortable. To get to your destiny, there will be twists and turns. In Scripture, we are promised we would be refined, go through persecution, that we would be mocked and scoffed at. Those trials and struggles you go through to get to your destination will shape you into the man or woman of God that God wants you to be, will build your patience, and will increase your perseverance. DO NOT GIVE UP. Going through all you have to go through will be worth it in the end. God will be with you through your entire journey; after all doesn't He tell you time and time again to be strong and courageous for He is with you? God is true to His promises. You will NOT be left alone in your journey. Stand on His promises and His Word. Learn to wield the Sword of the Spirit because you will need the Sword for your journey to your destination. So buckle up, and enjoy every moment of the ride into your destiny.

MEDITATE: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. " -James 1:2-4

So you are on the Potter's Wheel being shaped and molded. God does NOT care about your comfort, but He DOES care about your character and your heart before Him. You are simply the clay and He is working you into a masterpiece to be displayed, to showcase who He is and what He can do, and He will show you what He can do through you IF you allow Him to. When He calls you, you need to be willing and ready with a heart to serve Him and to serve those He calls you to. HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT THE DESTINY GOD HAS FOR YOU? How badly you want it determines what you are willing to do to walk into the destiny planned for you! So what are you willing to do to reach your destination? What are you willing to go through to walk into your destiny? Will you rely on the strength God gives you and not give up? Will you trust in Him alone rather than relying on yourself for the perseverance you need?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You are the Author and Finisher of my faith. Thank you for the work You have done in my life and the work You are doing even now. Thank You for keeping watch over me, and thank You for being the Shepherd of My Heart and the Keeper of My Soul. Lord, I give myself into Your hands and ask You to do with me as You will. Teach me to make the most of every opportunity You put in my path, and use me for Your glory. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
