Testimony From November 8, 2017
I can't believe how far God goes to answer us when we seek out His will. I stand in complete awe of just how gracious, kind, loving, and tenderhearted our God is.
I had a moment of doubt today. It came suddenly. Fast and furious, a thought, "Are you sure you heard right? Maybe this promise is to lead you elsewhere. Perhaps, your interpretation of God's will is in correct and your wasting your time. Are you absolutely sure this wait is of him?"
That's all I needed to go down a spirally slope of panic, fear, and doubt -second guessing myself, starting to debate, and talk myself out of what I heard God tell me.
Next thing I knew I was questioning everything.
Next thought, "You are foolish now to continue believing in something you don't really know is genuine. You can't be sure about this. What if what you think is really different then what's reality?" I mean, wow, my thoughts were going haywire and fast down a road of total doubt and confusion.
I needed help at this point. I immediately, picked up my cell and called my Executive Director.
"Oh my God, Linda, I'm not sure about this promise." I began to speak faster than normal, not stopping to even breath. "Linda, I don't know anymore. I'm confused, maybe it wasn't God. Could it be me? Look at this logically, it doesn't make sense anymore. It's taking to long." I went down so fast in pit of doubt. Whatever other nonsense I was thinking about I was telling her. I was just expressing every single fear turning everything into more doubts. More I spoke, more I doubted, more confused I began to feel, more panicked I got.
Thank God for Linda. "Teresa, stop!" She said. "Are you hearing yourself talk? You allowed doubt to enter your mind, and now your in a panic mode. No, you didn't hear wrong. God is not the author of confusion. Wait. You are allowing thoughts not coming from God to steal your blessing. Yes, you heard correct. God made you a promise, and it will come to pass on His timetable, not yours. Go back to your thought pattern and change it. Stop doubting and start believing God!"
"Alright, Linda. I will continue to wait. But pray for me. I'm really feeling confused now" was my reply. I decided to go shopping with the kids and Ruth. We got inside the car and I began to pray. Another desperate cry kind of prayer. "God, I know confusion isn't of you. You are clear as to what your will is. I'm sorry, my faith feels weak at this moment. I'm scared I heard wrong. I want to be in the center, dead smack in the middle center of your will. Please, God, one more time help me. Show me this road is the right road, and this promise is really of you. Please don't make me look foolish in this outcome. But, Ok, Nevertheless, I will not get off this path and if I look foolish in the end, it's ok with me. I will do exactly what you have asked of me. God if possible can you do me a special favor? Can you somehow bring forth a rainbow in the sky, representing your covenant promise what you showed me shall come to pass? I just need to know I'm in your perfect will." That was my prayer.
Then, I told Ruth and my kids, "I'm asking God to send me a rainbow as a miracle to remind me of His promise. It sure would be nice of God if that could happen tonight."
We went to the mall, nice day, sunny. On the way back, about two hours later, coming home, it rained for about a minute, nothing major, just a quick rain shower, we were just about 10 minutes from hotel. All of a sudden I hear Ruth say, "Oh wow, Bestie. God answered your prayer. Take a look at that rainbow in the sky. Bestie, it's a rainbow with a total arch. From one section to the other. All five colors! Bestie, I can't believe it. Where did it come from in just a minute of rain? Wow, God answered your prayer. He sent you the rainbow. Wow, Bestie, you can't say, God isn't in this promise He made you. He answered you with a huge rainbow, totally across the sky, showcasing all five colors. Bestie, you can't miss this rainbow. It's perfect. Wait, Bestie, wait!"
People, I literally started crying. That rainbow was in the sky for less then 30 seconds, enough for us to see it, and take the picture. God heard the desperate plea of my heart, and answered it.
God hears the prayers of those whose hearts are totally committed to Him. He moves heaven and earth to show us His will. When we are serious with God, He is serious with us. When we desire to do things His way, He desires to help us continue walking on the path He's placed us on.
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." -1 John 5: 14
This passage is a very strong one for me. If you ever attended the church I grew up in, you would remember this verse written on the wall. I read and memorized this verse as a little girl. It's a verse that was constantly in front of me and very much a part of my life.
Let's break it down.
1. Confidence." This means we can totally rely on God. You know no matter what he's trust worthy. We can trust he will not fail us.
2. According to his will. If you truly want to do the will of God it depends on whether or not your willing to do it, according to his way and his timing.
3. Hears us. God stops and makes us aware of his plans. He literally, answers us in a way we can't explain. Like throwing a 30 second rainbow in the sky because I asked him to please show me. That minute rain, took place at the right time, producing the rainbow I asked to be sure I was in his will.
I asked for something strange, so that I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt God was speaking to me. I mean it rained here before and there weren't any rainbows. Tonight, at about 5 PM., one appeared across the entire sky for 30 seconds or so. It only rained for like a minute.
Friends do you see what I see? I see a God that moves heaven and earth to answer our prayers. I know God loves me so much He would allow a little one minute shower and then place a rainbow so huge in the sky to bring back my hope, to remind me I can trust Him to keep me on this path He's called me to walk, and to show me just how much He loves me. He doesn't want me to lose hope in what He said or lose my blessing.
Best part is when God shows my children He's real. They knew I asked God to show me a rainbow. That was at 3:30 p.m., and by 5:00 p.m. God showcased Himself to be real by answering my desperate prayer. God delights in helping us complete His calling and fulfilling all of the purposes He has for us.
Whatever your struggles, doubts, and fears may be. Give it to God and tell Him you will do it His way... even if it's painful, uncertain, and a fearful road. God never fails and his promises are always yes and amen!
Remember this rainbow next time you are tempted to doubt God's promise to you. He's faithful and true, and He loves it when we choose His will above ours. He cannot and will not fail you. This is the confidence we have, when we ask to do His will, He will confirm it over and over again.
