AGAINST ALL MEDICAL REASONING

What circumstances or situations are you faced you believe are impossible? God is asking you today the following question.

" I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?"

Jeremiah 32:27

Please note, before the question God made a Statement. "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind..." We often forget he is our creator and as our creator he has our lives in his hands. Nothing happens without his permission. Nothing he can't do for us.

When Ellianna was 18 months old, we were celebrating Thanksgiving. Towards the end of the evening, Ellianna's lips were blue, and she was gasping for air. I picked her up, and immediately, drove to the hospital. The whole time in the car I was praying asking God to let her be ok. I knew something was wrong. she was having a difficult time breathing. Every breath she took was heavy, and I could hear her gasping for air.

When I got to hospital, at check in, they didn't even check her in. Nurses swarmed around me and took her in immediately. I started to panic. I began asking God, "I don't feel right in my heart about this. Please God, are you going to test me tonight? Please God, don't have them scare me!"

Nurse said, "She's not taking enough oxygen. Her oxygen level is very low. We need Chest X-Ray. She might be choking on food."

They took the X-Ray, and the doctor came in to tell me there was a foreign object launched in her left lung. The only way to get it out was to operate. She needed emergency surgery. They couldn't do the surgery at local hospital. She needed to go to Massachusetts General Hospital.

He then told me, "This is a severe situation. We have to do this immediately. There is a helicopter on the roof. She has to leave now. Surgeon has been called and is waiting in operation room. There's no room for you in the helicopter. You will have a police escort to hospital."

They went to take Ellianna from me. She pitched a fit. Her crying made her oxygen level go even more down. Her face started to get blue. She wouldn't let go of me. I seriously didn't care who heard me or what they thought. I started to pray out loud. Ellianna calmed down but not enough for them to take her.

They went to plan B. We would go by ambulance, and the helicopter would fly above us. Should something happen on the way, the highway would be shut down as police cars were going with us, and the helicopter would land on the highway, and take her that way. That was the longest 30 minutes of my life! There are moments in our lives and remain with us.

Every time I hear or see a helicopter, it brings up that memory for me. I was now officially in a state of panic. The EMT's were great and very kind to me. They were doing what they needed to do. I sat there holding Ellianna's hand and hearing her gasp for air. I was fighting back the tears.

Then like a bolting lighting, it hit me. Ellianna was my promised baby. This was an attack on her life, and I wasn't going to have it. I looked at the two guys who were there attending to her, and I asked, "Excuse me, I'm not going to get in your way, is it ok with you if I kneel next to her and start praying?"

They told me, "Sure, do whatever you need to do!" It was after midnight, I called my pastor's house. He answered the phone, I told him what was happening. Meantime, his wife woke up and got on the second phone. They told me they were coming to hospital now. I knew we needed to pray now, no time for them to drive to meet me. So, we prayed right there in the ambulance for a miracle.

We arrived at hospital. They were waiting for Ellianna outside, and the seriousness of the situation hit me even more. They took her into surgery department. One of the EMT's helped me down. I was crying at this point.

He took the time and hugged me and then said, "I heard you pray for your daughter, I believe God is going to give you the miracle. She's going to be ok!"

The surgeon came in, holding the X-ray. "I can read X-rays," I told him.

I could clearly see this foreign object just launched on her left lung. we didn't know what it was. He told me she would have surgery in a few minutes. He went to scrub. Her oxygen level was so low. She was hooked to all these machines. I went to her bed, picked her up, and laid in that bed with her. I began to pray again, "God, I don't care what those X-Rays show. I know you can do anything. Please God, this is a serious operation with complications. She's 18 months. God, please, please, give me a miracle tonight. You operate with Your powerful hand and remove this object please, God."

I still remember my prayer ten years later. Just then the machines went off. I looked as the nurses came running in. Her oxygen level returned to normal. They called the surgeon who was in surgery scrubbing, and he came in and said, "Hmmmmmm, what's happening? She's breathing fine. Let's get X-Ray done."

He comes back again, "Ms. Citro, do you believe in medical miracles? You just got one. I have no explanation for this." By now he knew I went to Medical School, and he knew I knew where the object was launched and that it could only be surgically removed. He made us wait there until 7 a.m. to be sure. She was taken off oxygen, was brought food to eat, etc. She ate no problems. They took another X-Ray to be sure and dismissed her.

Then my pediatrician called me, the minute I got home from hospital. Ms. Citro, bring Ellianna now to my office. I get back in car, drive to his office. "Ms. Citro, I know you know better. For God's sake, you went to medical school. You know it's impossible for this object to disappear without surgery. Look at this object! Look at this X-Ray! Massachusetts General Hospital messed up. I called the best surgeon at Children's Hospital, Take this X-Ray and go there now. They are waiting for Ellianna. We have to remove it."

Here I'm going to Children's Hospital. Can you say, "Longest 24 hours of my life?" I got there, and the doctor said, "I don't know what Massachusetts General Hospital was thinking. Let me take an X-Ray. We have to remove the object. Just because she's breathing better doesn't mean we don't remove it!"

While waiting, I was tempted to panic. Notice how I said tempted. I started praying again. This time very differently. I started thanking God that what He does leaves everyone speechless. I started thanking Him for miraculously, with no human explanation, removing the object.

Doctor comes in, "Ms. Citro, I'm a surgeon, specializing in pulmonary. I have no idea, no explanation as to how that object just magically disappeared. Take these X-Rays with you and keep them always. This is called, "Medical Miracle!"

I have these X-Rays in Ellianna's room throughout all these years as a constant reminder, "Is there anything, anything to hard for me to do, says the Lord?"

My Friends, what miracle are you looking for God to do? He's asking you, "Is there anything to hard, to impossible, to outrageous, to complicated, to anything for me to do?"
