As I uploaded my cover page, and profile picture of my trip to Venice and Murano. It brought to my mind a wonderful memory of God's supernatural power and love for people.
It was the last day of our conference and I decided to go to Murano. I was on a hunt for a pair of white gold earrings. I talked my two friends to go with me, Ruth Strait and Tsiriotakis Ioanna, and we took a vaporetto. Almost one hour later we arrived in Murano island. We got there a little late. Stores where closing. We ran inside the first jewelry store just as the woman was about to close.
I spoke to her in Italian and asked her if we could quickly see her jewelry. She very kindly said, "Yes, welcome, I will remain open for you!" I made my selection and thanked her for her kindness, and she told me she wanted to give me a break on the prices. I thanked her and told her I wasn't expecting anything, and God bless her for her nice gesture.
She looked up at me with such sad eyes. Then told me she sure hoped God would remember her. I felt so compelled to pray for her. At first, I felt intimidated. I was in a jewelry store, I didn't know this woman. I didn't want to pray in Italian, and what if she thought I was weird? I tried to dismiss it in my mind but couldn't. My heart was beating too fast. I finally asked her.
"Signora, I don't know why I feel this, but I feel I need to pray for you. Will this be ok with you?"
She immediately, said, "Yes, please," as she put her head down in reverence. I prayed a prayer I never prayed before. I didn't even understand myself why I was praying like I was praying, but God knew.
The lady began to cry.
She told me, "You are like an angel that came into my store. I was going to leave 30 minutes ago. But, I felt to stay and not close. Even if I missed my vaporetto, and I have to take a much longer route to get home. I think God sent you here to pray for me. I've been waiting for an answer and I think God brought you here. I'm not going home, I'm going to go straight to a church around the corner now. And spend sometime there. Mille grazie for praying for me."
As she wiped her tears away from her face, with a voice that could hardly talk, and outstretched arms, gave me a huge Italian hug.
We left her jewelry store, and we started talking about what just happened. It was weird to us, but not to her. She was waiting, expecting something to bring her hope.
I find it interesting, God could have sent anyone to pray with her. Why someone from across the Atlantic? I don't have an answer. He chose to do it that way. God can do whatever He wants, in whatever way He wants to.
One thing I know for sure. "He sent his message" to her. His message wasn't just a word. For her, it meant healing.
Do you know we are His mouthpiece, hands, feet, and heart of God? There is a world filled with hurting people. When we choose to be used and led by the Spirit, we bring hope, renewed spirit, and healing to those who are waiting for a some kind of sign or message. God uses us to bring messages of comfort and hope to the hurting.
Will you allow to be led of God to bring a message of comfort and hope? Ask God to let your words be inspired by Him, and be a healing balm to the broken-hearted. Perhaps, some will find it weird. But for those who are hurting and expecting a miracle they see nothing strange or weird about it. They hear the message and they receive the healing. Thanking God for speaking to them through weird circumstances, that can't even be explained.
I don't even know this woman's name, but the lesson I learned continues to remain in my heart and on my mind. The faithfulness of God knows no limit. He will bring whoever he needs to bring across oceans, deserts, continents, and mountains to deliver His message. I am in awe of God, His power and love for humanity. God has a message of healing for you, too
