"God wants you to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing what is right."
-1 Peter 2:15
There is no such thing as "stumbling" on a verse that hits you like a ton of bricks! This was one for me. I have no idea how I came on this verse, but God is trying to tell me something. It's a pause moment for me today.
A different kind of word on my birthday. It's not one that I was expecting. But I would say, it's one of the greatest truth known to mankind.
This verse in clear and in your face. It cannot be misunderstood in any way, shape, or form. It's actually a command given by God. "God wants you to." This is a sure guarantee your fate is sealed, and your battles are won when you practice doing what is right. The silencing of the ignorant and foolish people is won one way and one way only. It's by doing what is right!
Foolish and ungodly people love to gossip, love to tear down, to spread division and lies. They love and thrive in causing trouble. The person who is innocent naturally goes into defense mode. It's perfectly natural right? God says it's wrong. That's not what our defense needs to be. God is the defender of the righteous. I haven't seen Him lose one battle yet. Have you?
Our energies are swallowed up by this defense action, and then our energy is zapped. We stoop to their level. We never win any battles by trying to defend ourselves with ignorant and foolish people. They have two strikes against them already; they are ignorant and foolish.
The ignorance of foolish people isn't fought by getting on the phone with them, having meetings with them, and definitely not trying to explain anything to them. It's not going to work.
So, then, what works? Silence on your part, and just doing what is right. Sometimes you have to ignore people's ignorant and foolish actions. It's hard to do, I hear you and I understand.
I don't have to meditate on this verse very long today. It's very clear as it should be to you. Wasting time trying to defend yourself is the biggest mistake. One that can't be ever recouped. Wasting time is exactly where the enemy would like to keep you, ensnared by trying to prove yourself. You and I don't have to prove anything to anyone especially to the ungodly attitudes of the ignorance of foolish people.
Today, instead of getting mad, and trying to be a lawyer preparing your defense case, wasting precious time instead of doing great things in our world, leave it to God. Go forth with shouts of joy, and do what He called you to do. Be productive and let God bless you and let Him take all the credit.
Take the power away from the ugly of ignorant and foolish people and prove them wrong by your actions of doing right. Silence them by doing what is right. Disabling and dismantling their behaviors and actions is silenced by your good works. So simple and so easy. They can try to imitate you, but it will be just like oil and water, which do not mix; it will quickly come to the surface, and the real truth will come forth. You will be on top, and they will be at the bottom.
God is not a man that should lie. He told us what our weapon is. Do what is right! Pick it up and do what is right. He fights to win and shine the truth. Align yourself with the Word of God, and you shall win every battle, every time, and in every situation.
Love Him and love His Word! "In the beginning was the Word... The Word became flesh..."
I say, thank You, God. His truth sets us free. Go forth in peace, joy, and love, with His Word hidden in your heart and fight the good battle of doing everything that is right.
Silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing what is right.
So powerful and so beautiful.

INSIGHT: When someone is accusing you of something you didn't do or when someone is slandering/gossiping about you, being silent is the best thing to do. Remember this: God's Truth is with you. When you spend time in the Word of God, your faith is building, and as you apply the Word, you begin to understand God is the One Who Defines You. Leave vengeance to God who says, "Vengeance is mine." Do what is right in the eyes of God, apply the Word of God to your life, and remember this: GOD IS THE ONE WHO WILL VINDICATE YOU. Let people talk. Truth stands the test of time, and lies are soon exposed. God's Word is eternal while man's words fall to the ground, wither up and die.
MEDITATION: "And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you." (Matthew 12: 36-37) Sobering words. However, it puts things into perspective when someone is speaking ill of you in any form. Leave them in the hands of God, and think before you speak. The Lord will avenge you. Submit what you feel and think to the Lord, and do not let their negative words choke the life out of your spirit. Pray for them, and give them over to the Lord. Though they speak words of death, you speak words of life because you, just like them, will be judged for every idle word that comes out of your mouth. Speak life by praying for them. Let the Lord defend you because harsh words stir up strife while a gentle answer turns away wrath.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You are the God Who Vindicates me, and I trust you to defend me against those who speak against me, those who mock me. Father, help me to speak timely words that are like apples of gold in settings of silver. Teach me to speak words of life and hope even in the midst of those who speak ill of me in any way. Let me be a light even in the midst of darkness, and let my speech be seasoned with salt so that I might be an example for You. Thank You for being my Defense. Thank You for Your Word which guards my heart and shields my mind. Thank You that no weapons formed against me, including words, shall prosper. Thank You for being my Strength. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
