Seated In The Heavenlies

"Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry..." -Colossians 3:5
Because I am seated with Christ, I look at myself differently than how the world looks at a normal person. A normal person, who is sensing and following the thoughts of the world, if they fail God, they look at their emotions, their sin, and the enticements of the world; they feel helpless and ashamed before God. Their eyes are on Earth, not in heaven.
REFLECTION: "Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory," (Colossians 3:1-4 NLT).
According to this passage of Scripture, we are no longer of this world. Our position is now in Christ and has been since we were born again. Because we are in Christ and seated in the heavenlies, impurity, passion, evil desires do not have authority over us. We are to view of ourselves as in heaven, not on Earth. For, in reality, this is where our identity lies.
We are to acknowledge and confess ourselves free in Christ and not dominated by sin. If we sin, and we may from time to time, we should view that as a failure of our will, but not as sin’s authority and power over our life. The authority and power sin once held over us was nailed to the cross 2,000 years ago. Sin was killed and buried with our Savior, and when He arose, the new resurrection life He possessed and still possesses became ours too. Now our life is seated with Christ at the right hand of God.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me to be Your child. Remind me always that I am no longer in this world because I am found in You, and that I can call out to You wherever I am and wherever I go. Help to always see myself as You see me and not as the world sees me. Let me remember my position is in Christ, that I am a child of the King, and You are my God. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
