Disappointments Can be Appointments

Disappointed has the word appointed in it. I was reminded this morning in every disappointment there is an appointment in it. God still directs our paths in our disappointments! He sees past, present, and future! We only know past. We can't even say we know present as we don't know what will happen in the next split second.

"Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." -Isaiah 40:28-31

Guess what? God still defeats our disappointments no matter what they are. We can trust Him fully that through the disappointments of life He is leading us to the greatest appointments known to mankind. Keep walking. Don't faint. Don't give up. He is your strength. Be strong and courageous for God Himself is with those who truly surrender to His ways. Have you surrendered all you are to Him? Your thoughts, ways, self-interest, ambitions, dreams, hopes? How about fears, concerns, worries, and yes, disappointments? I promise you His divine appointments are birthed from your greatest disappointments. Keep going. God has an appointed time, an expiration time to the end of your struggles.

INSIGHT: For every thought you have that goes against God, there is a bible verse to combat those thoughts. God tells you, "Be strong and courageous." The great thing about God is you can tell Him what you feel and what you think. God can handle you telling Him what you think and what you feel. However, God has told you what to do, and get this: God has already given you all you need in order for you to be strong and courageous. If you are relying on yourself or someone else, you will be disappointed. While man will disappoint and let you down, God NEVER lets you down. When you wait on the Lord, He will renew your strength, and the disappointment will fade in the light of who God is and His glory.

MEDITATE: "And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others." (2 Corinthians 9:8) Throughout the Scriptures, we are told time and time again, "Do not be afraid" and "Fear not," and we are also told many times God is the one who supplies our every need, not to trust in man, but to look to God in joy, sorrow, highs, lows. God calls us to full reliance on Him. Are you relying on man for your needs? Do you find yourself disappointed? Are you looking to anything other than God to make you happy? True joy is found in God alone. Our reliance and dependence must be on God.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You are the Source of All I need, the Source of My Hope, the Source of My Life. Outside of You, there is no joy or peace. Help me to always remember I am to depend on You alone. Forgive me for the times I have taken my eyes off You. Lord, thank You for Your unfailing love and Your enduring faithfulness. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
