Whom shall I send? Here I am, send me, Lord.

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" (Isaiah 6:8)

As a teenager, these words always jumped off the page at me! Petra sings a song that goes like this, "Take me into the holy of holies. Take me in by the blood of the lamb. Take me in to the holy of holies. Take the coal, Cleanse my lips, Here I am." I always told God, “Here I am send me too!" Back then, I didn’t realize the walk that would take me here nor did I understand what my calling would entail. Precious Child of the Most High God, this is for you too. We never know what God is going to do when we say, “Lord, I am here, available for you to use as you wish!” Being available means you are offering yourself to Him. You are presenting yourself before his throne and saying, just as I am, I give you all of me, all I am all I hope to be, I am yours and yours alone. I am open to your will in my life. I exist for you and only you, do with me as you like. In essence, you are saying, “I want to fill my life with all of you. I do not want my life to be vacant." You see, it means that you don’t want to be an empty vessel. You don’t want to be indifferent to the call of God. You want to comprehend what the Spirit is saying to you. Isaiah didn’t have to think about it, he didn’t have to fast and pray, he didn’t have to call his pastors, his mentors, and get back to God. He saw the Lord, seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. God showed Isaiah his greatness, power and awesomeness. He showed him the mysteries of heaven. It goes on to say, “Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other..." Wow! Can you even begin to picture this in your mind? Now, God, is God. He is all knowing. This means there is nothing that he doesn’t already know ahead of time. He knew exactly how Isaiah was going to respond. So, why then, didn’t he just say, “Isaiah, I am commissioning you to be my prophet?” I believe because God wanted Isaiah to realize his calling. MEDITATION: "To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power..." (2 Thessalonians 1:11) In the dictionary, the meaning of the word "call" is “an option that gives the holder the right to buy the underlying asset. An option that permits its holder to purchase a specific asset." Do you see what I see here? You have all the rights. You are holding the right God has on your life in your hands. You have being given all the power to answer that calling. His calling wasn’t an easy one. He had to tell people who believed they were blessed by God that instead God was going to destroy them because off their disobedience. You see, the message here is that God never calls us to an easy task. Perhaps you are dealing with health issues, problems in marriage, financial crisis, whatever the problem, God wants to use you in it. Will you say, as Isaiah said, “Here am I send me?”
