“Who is this coming up from the desert leaning on her lover?”
-Song of Solomon 8:5

I love the fact that God describes Himself as our lover. No wonder He invites us to lean on Him. God loves us unconditionally. We can tell Him everything we feel. He will not judge us. God wants us to have intimacy with Him. He wants us to go to Him as a lover would share with her beloved. God does not stop there. He allows us to lean on Him because He wants to bring us up. There is a song that goes like this, “I’m leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.” God’s arm is like no human; It is massive. Imagine the biggest pillar, and multiply that a million times over. This to me brings peace of mind, knowing I can lean on God. Let me make this simple. If you ever needed to lean on someone to help you out of a car, up the stairs, out of a pool, whatever, you trusted that this person would not drop you, make you fall, or hurt you in anyway. You can trust God in the same way, and how much more! We can trust God completely. There will be times that we experience what I call, “the desert place.” This is not a vacation spot. This is a place where you hunger and thirst for God, a place where everything is dead, too hot, and we are lying in the sand, not able to walk. We feel the sand in our mouth and the heat on our face. We are in pain. My sisters, it is here, at this place that our Lover, our God with His majestic arm is holding us as we lean on Him. Here we realize just how much we can lean on God. Here is where God is making His beautiful bride. REFLECTION: "I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth, (Psalm 121:1-2). When the hand of Almighty God grabs you and takes you out of the dry and weary place, you can be sure He will do a great work. God will showcase His masterpiece! YOU! Yes, YOU! He is the One that brings us up from the places of devastation. He is the One that sets our feet on solid ground to stay. He is the One that says, “Though I allowed you to walk through the place of adversity, I am bringing you out!” God is doing something beautiful in the desert. He is allowing us the honor of leaning on Him. If you find yourself in the desert today, get on your knees and begin to thank God that He is there with you. God is saying to you, “Lean on me.” Open your eyes of faith and see yourself on the arm of your Beloved. He promises He will bring you out.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for being the One I can trust, the One I can lean upon. Lord, You are Sovereign, and Your timetable is perfect. Thank You for making all things beautiful in Your time. In moments where I struggle with Your timing, remind me that everything is made beautiful in Your time. I will lean upon You in this place I'm at, and I trust You. My help comes from You alone. Teach me, in all things, to lean on You, the One in Whom I can fully trust. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
