"I will lead the blind on unfamiliar roads. I will lead them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light in front of them. I will make rough places smooth. These are the things I will do for them, and I will never abandon them." - Isaiah 42:16

Today, I opened to Isaiah 42 and verse 16 just jumped at me. I was taken back that God says, “I will lead them on unfamiliar paths.” This “unfamiliar” made me stop and ponder. Sometimes, we don’t like the “unfamiliar” things. They are scary to us. But, when we examine this word more closely, we realize that it simply means new, unknown, or untried. It is a different road. Because it is different we assume it will be scary. But, when we continue to read we get promises from God. He says, “I will make rough places smooth.” What are the rough places? Are you going through difficulties, unbearable situations? God is promising YOU that He will make those places smooth. This means He will level the obstacles before you. They will be even. God himself will flatten the road and make it effortless for you to walk in. He will smooth it out for you.

Press on and keep going. He is going to make your walk effortless if you trust Him. Yes, you might be blind to this “unfamiliar path” but He promises to never abandon you in it. Let me just say that the places God takes you are places of wonderful experiences in the end.

MEDITATION: "It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." (Deuteronomy 31:8) You will know that those who put their hope and trust in Him will never be left in the middle of the road stranded. Wherever He takes you, you are under His personal care. The places He takes you are places flowing with milk and honey. Go ahead, ask God to take you by the hand and let Him lead you, I promise in the dessert you will find the oasis, in the rain forest you will see God’s beauty, in the blizzard you will enjoy God’s greatest ice sculptures. There is beauty in every single place that God takes you. Ask Him to open your blind eyes to see the handy work of His mercy and grace.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, open my eyes that I might see the works of Your hands laid out before me. Thank You for making the crooked ways straight and make the ground level ground, and thank You for being my Guide. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
