“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generation of those who love him and keep his commands.” -Deuteronomy 7:9

Family and friends might be unfaithful to us but God will always be faithful! What a promise! What a covenant -"To a thousand generations!” He is the faithful God. We must remember this promise in the mist of our trials. It is in our trials that we begin to panic and question His faithfulness to us. We must note that it is in the mist of the dark hours and the most devastating times that we learn just how faithful God is.

The key to His faithfulness lies in the last part of the verse above, “of those who love Him and keep His commands.” If you love God and you keep His commands you are a child of the Most High God. You can be assured that He will be faithful to you forever. In essence a thousand generation means just that…forever.

In life, we are going to have moments so horrific that if it wasn’t for God’s faithfulness we would be lost. Whatever your situation is, whatever is happening in your life, trust the faithfulness of God. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. He promises that the fire will not burn you and the waters will not drown you. He knows exactly how much you can take and He will make a way of escape, because we serve a faithful God.

Our God cannot and does not lie.

Remember how He was with Joseph through all the years he was in Egypt. Joseph never ever doubted God, as he was sold into slavery, accused of rape, put into prison, he still believed and trusted in the faithfulness of God. How would we have weathered under those conditions? Fifteen years in jail, and yet he trusted that God would be faithful to him. He kept God’s commands. How do we know this? We know because he ministered to the cupbearer and the baker in jail. God did not forget that.

Keep always on your mind that throughout the Bible we see God was always faithful to His people, and in particular, those who kept His commands. His character remains the same; He is flawless.

As He was with them, He will be with you!

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You are faithful, and You are true. You, O God, are the One Who Sees Me Through. Thank You for Your enduring faithfulness. Thank You for Your unfailing love. You know all things from beginning to end. You said you would never leave me nor forsake me, and so LORD, I am trusting in You and Your promise to me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
